A brush with...an idiot

It's no different than most days. Most days someone makes me shake my head in disbelief. Usually disbelief at their stupidity. Typically, they are folks driving down 288 who seem to lose consciousness. Either that or their speedometers break, their mirrors fog over, and their brakes fail all at once. It never ceases to amaze me when someone comes flying up behind me, rides my tail for a minute, then swerves around me like they're drunk, and floors it past me...only to realize that I was going 70 for a reason. Everyone else is. Yep, that's right...there's nowhere to go, idiot. So he slams on his brakes right in front of me, and is then going...yes, you guessed it...70. Just like I was.

But the this morning, a chick in an SUV made me shake my head in disbelief before I was 5 miles from my house. I'm in the right hand lane of Hull Street Rd. (Why is is called Street and Road??). I'm in the right lane because I'm going to turn right in a few seconds. (Imagine that). My turn lane has arrived and I put on my blinker to get in that right hand turn lane. I'm in it, and about halfway up it when this SUV comes sliding in from 2 lanes over. No blinker. Not that it would have mattered. But more importantly, just dips in right in front of me so close that I couldn't see her license plate. So I recover...and we both make our right turns. I get in the left lane immediately because I'm going to take a left. Imagine that. I get in the left turn lane, she isn't there. Then she is...again...right in front of me. What the hell. Why not, right? So we both turn left into a parking lot. The parking lot has 2 entrance lanes, one to turn left into Starbucks, one to turn right into a gym. She's in the right lane. I'm in the left one - as I'm TRYING to get coffee. She stops. In the middle of her lane. People behind her and all. Just hanging out...apparently. I ignore her, turn left into Starbucks, and she swerves over and turns left from the right lane and is now behind me. When I get out of my car, I look over at her. Not mean or anything, I'm just intrigued as to what her problem could be. Nothing of note. Nothing obvious. She does have 2 arms, 2 hands, 2 eyes....so, I'm at a loss as to what her problem was...

Okay, so nothing serious happened. But idiots being this close to be on the road are a concern for me. Isn't there some way to vet these people...so they can't have driver's licenses? Not only did she break like 3 traffic laws, but she could easily cause an accident. And I'll tell you - if she'd hit me...oh, the poor lady. She would be buying me a new car.  Assuming she had insurance.

And on that note...here's another lovely song - it helps me to feel better after a brush with an idiot...so why not post for you?

Taking a Cue From a Friend

So a few blogs back I talked about discovering new music. I enjoy only a few things as much as finding a new awesome song. Unfortunately that those songs are usually lesser known songs...so I have no one to rant and rave about it to. If I tell you that my favorite artist is Esthero (which is is), we probably can't talk much about it because you probably don't know her. That makes me very sad. (Exaggerating is a strong point of mine, did you know?)

Anyway, a friend just started his own blog. And he's been posting awesome stuff he comes across too...and I now must steal that idea from him. I feel like I'm doing my friends an injustice by only telling you names of a few artists I love. Instead, I will now attempt to post a few videos for you as well. I hope you enjoy some of them! :) And remember, go venture out and find some music that makes you happy. Preferably stuff that you don't hear on the radio. Too much garbage on the radio when there is real talent just a few clicks away...

Petitions

I'm going to go all hippie here for a minute. Please give me a second...

There are more atrocities than I care to try to list here that really make me sick. Most have to do with varying degrees of animal cruelty and overpopulation. This includes household animals as well as wild animals. There are countless petitions out there that are ahead of several landmark votes coming up in November that would help keep some of these things in check. Many house votes  are ready - please check this list of petitions today in order to tell your representatives how you feel about some of them...

Great timing

I'm excited to report that I bought a car. The Trooper died a couple months ago...I'd been on the lookout for an Acura TL. I'm very picky. I found the right one - at the right price and just went for it. It's been 2 weeks or so since I took the plunge. And just the other day we found out we have to replace our furnace and air conditioning unit. Lovely timing, huh? Good news is we won't die from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Bad news is...no one is getting anything from us for Christmas. If you want to revel in the new heat pump, come on by. That's where your Christmas present will be.
